Active window on mac losing focus

Whenever there is a window on my mac, it loses the focus automatically and I have to click on it to "re-activate" it. It is getting so annoying to use. Does anyone have a fix to it?

Just for the" Fun " of it.

I have put your question including the part of " even in Full Screen Mode " into a AI Chatbot

Below was the response From the ➡️ AI Chatbot ⬅️

🧪 1. Check for Misbehaving Apps or Background Processes

Symptoms:

  • Focus randomly switches away.
  • You’re often clicking back into apps to type or use them.

Fix:

Use Activity Monitor to see if a background app is stealing focus.

How:

  1. Open Activity Monitor (Cmd + Space, type "Activity Monitor").
  2. Look for suspicious or unknown apps/processes using CPU or memory.
  3. Sort by %CPU and Name to identify unfamiliar items.
  4. Quit anything you don’t recognize or aren’t actively using.
  5. Especially look for third-party apps like clipboard managers, keyboard utilities, or window managers.

🧰 2. Safe Mode Test

Boot into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. This helps rule out third-party software.

How:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login screen.
  3. In the case of an Apple Silicon computer "  Safe Mode ' and choose the method for Apple Silicon computer Point 3 is my addition and Not from the AL chatbot
  4. Log in. Try to reproduce the issue.

If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, it’s likely caused by third-party software or login items.

🛠️ 3. Check Login Items (Startup Programs)

Some background apps may be launching at login and causing this.

How:

  1. Go to System Settings → General → Login Items.
  2. Review what’s listed under “Open at Login” and “Allow in Background”.
  3. Disable anything you don’t recognize or need.

🧹 4. Reset Window Server / System UI

Sometimes the macOS window server or UI agent can glitch.

Option 1: Restart WindowServer

  1. Open Activity Monitor.
  2. Search for WindowServer.
  3. Select it → Click the (X) to quit.
  4. Your screen will briefly go black — this is normal.
  5. See if the issue is resolved after it restarts.

Option 2: Restart Mac

A full restart may fix temporary glitches.

I have " 1 window " with Safari open and visible on the screen

If I move the Mouse outside of that window and click on the Desktop

Yes, I have to move the mouse back into the Open Window of Safari to get the " Focus " back into Safari

This would be normal
