Failed to authenticate personal email in Mail for MacBook

I recently have had problems with my emails not syncing with my Mail for my MacBook. I kept being asked to add password, but as it was still downloading emails I ignored it. I had to change my password for another reason and now I cant download emails from my account. I have tried all the advice I have found on-line including in the community. I have removed my email account from mail and tried to re-add it but it does not work and I keep getting a message saying : Failed to authenticate, please try again later.

Currently I am access my emails in another way but it is really inconvenient.

Lastly this is not effecting my other emails that are connected to outlook - just my persona email.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a question in at Microsoft Forums concerning Outlook and Hotmail in Apple Mail but my feeling is that if I do get an answer from somebody that they are going to either ask Apple or tell me it's not possible at this time because of the security that Microsoft has placed on their mail servers and it's up to Apple to write a procedure into Mail so that Mail can beused with Microsoft mail servers.
