Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty - Apple Support

According to MacTracker, Apple discontinued the iPhone X in September 2018. Going by that, the iPhone X should be "Obsolete" for all hardware repair purposes except, perhaps, battery replacement.

However, the Apple Support article (last updated September 30, 2025) still lists the iPhone X as being "Vintage." I have read in other threads that MacTracker's dates reflect the U.S. market and that Apple sometimes sells iPhones longer elsewhere. Maybe there were parts of the world where Apple sold the iPhone X after September 2018 - and that is why it is still officially "Vintage".

It’ll end when you stop replacing its battery. I’ve a son who won’t part with his. I get it, it’s a classic design and device. But when it stops getting security updates, you have to think hard about continuing to spend money on a device that has fundamental issues.

Is it iPhone X or XS or XR? For the XR,XS, and XS Max, These iPhones can run iOS 18. SO what iPhone x phone he means? the regular iPhone X?

Apple doesn't publish end of life dates in advance.

The iPhone X is considered "vintage".

It is not capable of running a supported version of iOS. It can't run anything later than iOS 16.

You should replace it if support is a concern.
