Unable to add Outlook.com to my MacBook Air running macOS 26

I recently purchased a new MacBook Air and have been

attempting to add my Outlook.com account for email and calendar integration.

However, despite spending 45 minutes on the phone with technical support, I

have not been able to resolve the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Do you believe this could be related to an issue with iOS 26, or is it because macOS only

provides the option to sign in using Microsoft Exchange rather than offering a

Microsoft Outlook sign-in, as available on the mobile app?

If you are trying to add Microsoft Exchange, Outlook or Hotmail to the Mail app it won't work. Some people in Apple have been made aware of it.

It's the first time that someone has brought up the calendar integration that I have read, but I suspect if you can't add any to Mail then they won't work in other apps as well.

At present your alternative is to use only your Apple ID account within Apple apps or use the Outlook app from Microsoft app on the app Store.

I am seeing this on iPhone as well, it is more widespread than just Macbook.

Newer iPhone 15 with iOS 26, (Before that it was also broken on 18.5).

When trying to add Outlook account it prompts for email / pass and then instead of adding it skips back to the email/user prompt again. Essentially a loop.

What is strange - the same account working fine on Mac.

Most people realize it when emails not synching - then they go into Settings > Apps > Mail > Accounts and Outlook account shows "Re-enter password" but then you just get the loop.

Workaround is just to download Outlook app from App store (for email at least)

But then you don't get Contacts in iOS which screws up your Messages etc. if you are not using iCloud contacts (like me).

Anyway - hoping they fix this soon.
