Additional step to block email senders
iOS 26 introduced an additional verification step to block senders in email. I try to block spam senders as the number is in excess of 100 per day. Until I installed iOS 26 there were two steps to block a senders, now I have to wait for the confirmation to appear and confirm that they want to block the sender. This is not efficient and makes blocking spam, phishing emails even more time consuming. Why isn’t there a batch option, like there is for delete? Currently I can Select All and my options are “flag”, “move to folder” or “delete”. Who flags every message in their Junk folder? It would be more helpful and efficient to replace “flag” with “Block Sender” that would improve efficiency.
The alternative would be for iOS to recognize the 19 daily emails purportedly from each Ace Hardware, CVS, Apple iCloud Security, Netflix, Dr James Carter, and others telling me I have won a valuable prize, free gift, or payment was processed through my bank for an invoice, I have never heard of, or recommending medications that do not pertain to me.
Further, it would be easy for Apple to cull out the majority of these spam/scam texts by matching the name shown for the sender, such as AAA or Chase Bank and comparing to the actual sender’s email address because actual emails from Chase Bank will be from someone@chase.com, not f********@gmail.com.
