How to fix Mail app not working on MacBook Air?

Two days ago, my computer based mail quit sending and receiving mail though still connected to the internet. (spouse was able on his computer to continue as always with his) After various Apple support pp tried desperately to help, it was not to be fixed. This included, multiple times, deleting mail account and reinstating. In these efforts, it was noted that mail system was taking in messages. However the messages do not show up. Spoke to Apple support again but they did not have resolution for this issue.

In my work, having such access is important to be able to serve customers, properly track, and beyond.

Removing the affected email account(s) and adding them back is the gold standard for Mail send/receive failures, but it is unusual to have them give up with no other suggestions.

Among other possibilities, did they ask you to:

  1. try "Safe Mode" Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support?
  2. create a temporary User Account, add your email account(s) to it, and determine if the problem exists while logged in to that Account? Add a user or group on Mac - Apple Support
  3. investigate any unusual network settings — VPN, etc? Don't use VPN services.
  4. investigate the effects of using any number of non-Apple "cleaning" scam products, or equally useless "anti-virus" junk?
  5. create a new Network Location? Use network locations on Mac - Apple Support
