Apple Wallet Cards not opening

My Apple Wallet is having problems on my iphone 17 pro max running iOS 26.0.1. When i press a wallet item it won’t open a specific card unless i search for the specific card which opens it. A double click opens my payment card but other cards fail to open unless i search for a specific card.

Any ideas. I’ve tried restarting the app and phone and a soft reset so far.

I had the same problem with a new iPhone 17 pro and I finally worked out a fix, ie, go to ‘Face id and passcode’ and scroll to near the bottom you’ll see ‘Wallet’. Unselect then reselect Wallet, that fixed it for me.

They don't provide a similar experience. My issue is with not being able to select a card by tapping it when the wallet is open. I only open the wallet to select a card. I only use the double click to open the default card. I don't know what the 3rd experience is.

I repeat, when the wallet is open I used to be able to select any card by tapping it, now I can't, it takes a (random) number of taps to open a card and is extremely inconvenient when standing at a checkout.

Maybe there is a new setting (or changed setting) somewhere to stop this new behaviour, but I can't find anything which looks like it would change it.

Edit: It looks as if Alan is right that changing hold to fast in haptic settings of Accessibility improves it, but still isn't the same as under all other IoS versions where it was simple to select any card.

Apple Wallet is an app. Double clicking the Side Button (power button) used to activate Apple Pay and authenticate the user. That was not the app and it was only used for selecting payment method and authentication.

In iOS 26, when you double click, and you tap the stack of cards at the bottom, all items fan out. Tap on a card (payment method) and limited information is available at top of screen. It’s essentially giving you a near Wallet app experience.

Full information is available in Wallet app, if the issuing bank permits it. Data displayed is provided by the bank and may differ from card to card.

That isn't true on my iphone 16 pro (running latest IoS 26.) I open the wallet and the cards are displayed as in a wallet, but to open a card you can not just tap it like you used to be able to.

The default card isn't a problem as that opens if you double click the side button. but if you want to select anything else some random number of taps is now required - as it worked perfectly well before, this is just stupid.

And if it's not a bug, what's the point of the change ?

The last couple of years people have confused double clicking, with Apple Wallet app and the Wallet & Apple Pay in the Settings app. I think Apple is trying to provide a more uniform experience between the 3 different and distinct features.

Now it’s closer because all three are providing a more similar experience.
