Can I Re-Enroll AppleCare+ After Previous Owner Cancels Month-to-Month Plan?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to re-enroll AppleCare+ on an iPhone I purchased earlier this year. The device has been covered under a month-to-month AppleCare+ plan paid by the previous owner, but they will not renew the plan. The coverage officially ends on October 22, 2025.
I’d like to re-enroll AppleCare+ under my own Apple ID once the current plan ends. I’ve read Apple’s official Canadian support page, which says:
“If your AppleCare plan for your Apple device expires, you might be able to purchase new coverage within 45 days after your coverage ends.”

I’ve spoken with Apple Support via chat, and they confirmed I’d be eligible. But when I spoke with a AppleCare advisor by phone, they said re-enrollment isn’t possible because the plan was canceled — and that the “Add Coverage” option only appears for upfront plans, not monthly ones and he was also confused at the end. He offered to me to go with AppleCare One plan, but AppleCare One only exists in US, not in Canada.
This seems to contradict Apple’s own policy. I’m wondering:
• Has anyone successfully re-enrolled AppleCare+ after a month-to-month plan was canceled by the previous owner?
• Did the “Add Coverage” option appear in Settings after the plan ended?
• Did you need to run diagnostics or visit an Apple Store to trigger eligibility?
Any real-world experiences or advice would be hugely appreciated. I’m trying to make sure I protect the device properly and follow Apple’s process.
Thanks in advance!
