I have both my AirPod Pro 2s and my AirPod Pro 3s sitting in front of me. Neither have "loose" lids. There is zero movement in the lid when it's closed unless I actually open it. I don't recall any wiggle in the lid to my original AirPod Pros but they're at home so I can't check.

If you bought them from Apple, I suggest that you return them while you're in the exchange period.

I’ve got the same issue. AirPods Pro 3, lid is loose and almost rattles when closed. Open it’s barely noticeable.

I have a pair of AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, which do not have this issue at all.

The case does close all the way just fine, and doesn’t seem to pop open inappropriately, no issues with charging or anything, but yeah compared to previous generations, feels a little like manufacturing standards are more relaxed.

I’m not gonna lie though, kinda freaks me out a little because once I start fiddling with it I can’t stop and I’m afraid its going to lead to a series of unfortunate events.

It's under warranty. Take it back to Apple. Before you break it.
