iPhone 16 Plus shows charging but doesn’t actually charge from USB-C PD port

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 13 to an iPhone 16 Plus. When I plug it into a USB-C PD port using the original Apple cable, it shows the charging icon, but the battery percentage doesn’t increase. The port is labeled “PD” (USB-C) and another nearby port is labeled “QC 3.0” (USB-A).

The iPhone 16 Plus does charge normally when plugged into a MacBook Pro or a standard wall USB-C adapter. My iPhone 13 charged fine on the same USB-C PD port that now doesn’t work with the 16 Plus.

I find it really crazy that the only practical solution is to use the MacBook Pro to charge a €1000 phone. It’s not sold with a wall adapter (220 V), so there are basically no other options. W.T.F?

Is this due to the iPhone 16 Plus using a stricter Power Delivery protocol (PD 3.1) that older PD 2.0/3.0 chargers don’t fully support? Do I need a PD 3.1 certified charger to make it work in this setup? Any plans for iOS to be less restrictive and allows PD 2.0/3.0?
