Separating watch glass on Apple Watch

I just noticed that the class on my watch appears to be separating from the body of the watch. It has not been mistreated or damaged.

can it be fixed? Is it a known fault?

Sorry, but this can't be fixed, you will have to pay the Service fee for "Other Damage", for which Apple will replace the whole watch. Have a look at the related article:

Has the battery ever been replaced by Apple?

An expanding battery can extend and press the hardware from within against the display.

Water damage can also damage the battery.
