Potential phishing and remote monitoring on iPhone SE
Hello. First off, I want to thank anyone who helps me. I’m hoping it will make sense to someone who understands the jargon of cyber security and when it’s breached. I know there’s a problem 100%, and from what I have read into it seems to be phishing. I didn’t catch on for the longest time, Ive never been good w/ electronics. And even tho I’ve been an iPhone user for 15 yrs (it’s what I’m used to), I will say I am ignorant (in the literal sense of the word) to the whole cyber/IT world and terminology, so just researching this has really been a nightmare for me. I just today found this group (thank goodness) because I have just been stuck in frustrating cycles of trying to figure it out myself (and been super unsuccessful). So here is a rundown of few major things I’ve noticed and have been told by people at the Apple Store were legit problems (yet they offered no solution-maybe they were newly hired, I don’t know, but anyways, here it goes). My very first indication something was up was when I first noticed in Google password manager, (which I thought was safe) that there were these long android names on top of where the particular sites name used to be. This wasn’t done to all of them as you’ll see in the pic at the bottom, and I edited out my email address (Attaching photo to correspond). But I’ve NEVER had an android device. Again, loyal iPhone user, since 2010 in fact. Right now I still have the SE, I got this phone back in 2020, I have already purchased a new iPhone 13 & it’s sad to say but it’s still in the box. I honestly don’t want to bring all this corruption to my new device until I can get this stuff resolved, AND learn how to protect myself better from anything like this happening again. And then there’s the issue of “RemoteiCloudQuotaUl”I found in my phones settings. And a quick google search of what it meant leans strongly for me to think I am being monitored. (Attaching photo of what I found in settings and the result from internet search explaining what lt typically meant). While it is very possible I somehow did something innocently neglectful and maybe allowed the “data grabbers” to have access to my stuff, the folks at the Apple Store did say it looks more of a “personalized situation” to them. the REAL problem, I believe, is being caused by an individual (who lives one state over) and I know is VERY proficient w/ “gray hat hacking” as well as “black hat hacking” and is experienced in many years of IT work. (Although that’s not his current job publicly) but I know he is smart in the many levels of coding, design, development, you name it….the whole 9 yards. Had to put the situation in the extra files. Ran out of room.
