Severe Signal and Connectivity Issues on iPhone 17 Pro – Request for Immediate Resolution

I am experiencing persistent signal and connectivity issues with the iPhone 17 Pro. The device frequently drops network connection or shows full signal bars while calls and data fail to work. This occurs in multiple locations and with different SIMs, so it is not carrier-related.

I have followed all recommended steps, updated iOS and carrier settings, reset network configurations, removed any metallic case, and tested the SIM in another phone which worked normally. The problem is clearly device-specific and significantly impacts reliability.

This is unacceptable for a premium device at this price point. Apple should acknowledge the widespread nature of the issue, provide a permanent fix, or offer affected customers an exchange or refund. Please treat this as an urgent quality concern.

Apple has officially acknowledged several software-related issues with the iPhone 17 series and confirmed that fixes are being developed and released via software updates.

The main problems Apple has acknowledged include:

  • Camera Glitches: Apple confirmed an issue with the new AI-powered image processing system on the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro/Air models that causes the camera to freeze, stutter, or produce images with black squares under specific lighting conditions. Apple stated this is a software bug, not a hardware fault, and a fix is included in an upcoming iOS update.
  • Connectivity Problems: Apple support representatives have acknowledged widespread complaints of cellular network and Wi-Fi connectivity issues. Users reported dropped calls and unstable internet, with the problem potentially stemming from a new custom N1 chip or the initial iOS 26 software. An upcoming update, iOS 26.1, is expected to resolve these issues.

I have an iPhone 17 Pro. Cellular connection wise best iPhone connectivity in several models.

Resetting network settings does not reset carrier settings. They have various parameters they can reset on the SIM and eSIM. Which Apple can’t touch and server side settings Apple obviously can’t touch.

You have basically three choices. Wait for Apple to release a fix (that may never come) and do nothing. Follow up with Apple on your repair ticket and push to have it escalated. Talk to your carriers support team and possibly resolve the issue in 15 minutes.

When I had a similar issue with my 16 PM last year, I called my carrier’s support team and issue was resolved over the phone in 15 minutes and all I had to do was restart my iPhone.

My experience says this is purely caused by some third-party app that you may have installed.

I am not aware of the ambient temperature in which you are using the iPhone. However --> Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable ...

Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

I’ve had a similar issue with purchasing an iPhone 17 Pro in October. Bluetooth and Wifi constantly drop out, particularly if both being used simultaneously as if the N1 Chip can’t cope.

Early on, when I could find time, I contacted Apple Support who talked me through resetting and adjusting settings. That didn’t help.

I then waited out the next iOS update hoping that would solve the issue.

I’ve regularly ‘forgetting’ networks and devices and hard resetting my phone in hope that resolves things. It doesn’t.

I’m not sure if another update has hit my phone recently, however over the last week (now mid December), using WiFi (eg. connected to a basic 2.4 GHz network) and two Bluetooth devices together at the same time (eg. AirPods Pro/Apple Watch) has now become unusable, with Bluetooth turning off/on sometimes every few seconds, and WiFi also dropping out regularly, but it seems to prioritise WiFi connection at the expense of Bluetooth device connection. Also, low power mode affects this further.

For how expensive this product is and the expectation of Apple that ‘it just works’, this experience has been anything but positive.

At this stage, disappointingly, I’ll have to return the product for a refund when I can find time, and restore a former model I own that worked. The #%* around to do all that is not ideal.

This has now also changed my confidence in buying new release Apple Hardware of which I had often done across their portfolio for myself and my business in the past.

I have contacted Apple about this several times with no resolution other than it will be escalated… dropping connection resulting in failed FaceTime call and or regular phone call is unacceptable for the price point of these new devices. I have tried all the basic trouble shooting steps and even got a new router for my fiber internet. Every other device works fine besides this one. iOS 26.2 iPhone 17 pro max… plus it gets extremely hot…

For the Camera Glitch, which seems a device specific issue:

You may try some of these steps. Please check after each step...

  1. Ensure your screen protector or case isn't obstructing the front-facing camera. See the poic below
  2. If you still need help, reset your Face ID, then set it up again. Go to Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, then tap Reset Face ID. Next, tap Set up Face ID to set it up again. If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro
  3. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    1. Restart the device. That's it.
    2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  4. Corporate iPhone Profile Check and Removal Guide
    1. Is this your corporate iPhone? Then please contact the system administrator of your corporate.
    2. If it is your device, in that case, do you have any profile installed by your corporate/organization/enterprise/School Management?
    3. Erase the profile added by you If you have installed a profile on your own --> Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone - Apple ...
    4. Please contact the system administrator of the organization who provided the profile to you
  5. Parts and service history
    1. With iPhone 12 models and later using iOS 15.2 and later, you can go to Settings > General > About to see the parts and service history of your iPhone and you can see if the camera has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, you will see "Genuine Apple Part" next to Camera.
    2.
    3. You will see an Unknown Part  message if the camera installation is incomplete or if the camera:
    4. Was replaced with a nongenuine camera
    5. Was already used or installed in another iPhone
    6. Isn't functioning as expected
    7. This message doesn't affect your ability to use your iPhone or access your camera. Learn more about iPhone parts and service history.
    8. If your iPhone's camera has been previously replaced, repaired, or serviced by an unauthorized service provider, it's worth noting that Apple may decline to provide service for your device. The decision to refuse service will depend on the specific components that were affected by the unauthorized service.
  6. If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will not erase your data but will reset all personalized settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings and confirm the action. Note that you will need to reconfigure your settings afterward. All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
    1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
    2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
    3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
  7. Make sure you have the latest updates installed.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

So far in my research it’s only the IPhone 17 Air and the IPhone 17 Pro. I own the Air bought it in November and my connectivity is my only issue. I have tried restarting, I’ve tried putting in and out of airplane mode to “reconnect”. In trying to find a solution it seems to only be these two models. I have tried turning off WiFi to just use the cellular signal and nothing. I have tried turning off the cellular signal to use just the WiFi and still not working. I have done all the updates. I have tried using the same apps and running it next to my iPad mini on the same network and magically my iPad mini works while my 17 Air falls far short. This often $1000+ paper weight seems to be the problem! I love everything else about the phone. You’d think that in over 4 months a fix would have been found and provided. I feel like if they can’t fix it they should issue a recall and provide those affected with an actual solution that doesn’t result in phone that doesn’t work!

Yes, I have already contacted Apple Support regarding this issue. As instructed, I reset the carrier and network settings via: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. I understand this action removes Wi-Fi networks, passwords, cellular, VPN, and APN settings.

Apple Support also ran remote diagnostics on my iPhone 17 Pro, which showed no hardware or software faults. Despite that, the problem with weak or dropping signal persists.

It is important to note that this issue appears to be general among iPhone 17 models, as many users are reporting identical connectivity failures online. This suggests a widespread design or firmware problem rather than an isolated device defect.

Who’s your carrier and when is the last time you discussed the issue with their support team?

I’m not saying that originally there weren’t devices that had an issue. But several bug fixes have been released. Your particular device is still having issues. Maybe, your device has had multiple issues all along. It’s at least worth considering and when you have time pursuing it with your carrier.

I’m not looking for a refund, I’m flagging a genuine issue. I’ve been an Apple user for the past 15–16 years, with multiple devices including iPads, MacBooks, and iPhones. This is the first time I’ve ever had to reach out to complain. The iPhone 17 Pro signal problem is not an isolated incident and needs to be properly addressed.
