Tourist tax-refund at Apple Stores in China + iPhone 17 Pro Max USA vs China model differences

Hi all,

I have two questions and I’d appreciate your insight:

  1. Does the tax-refund (VAT) policy for tourists apply at Apple Stores in mainland China? If yes, what’s the process at the Apple Store?

2. For the iPhone 17 Pro Max, what are the differences between the U.S.-model and the China-model other than dual-SIM and battery capacity? Are there differences in supported bands, features, warranty/service terms, or anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance for your help!

iOS is country specific as well. Restricted features will not work, even if you change your Apple Account region or country. The iPhone will always download the iOS version released for the country of purchase.
