iPhone Randomly Lowers Ringtone Volume by Itself (Across Multiple Devices)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been dealing with a recurring issue where my iPhone randomly lowers the ringtone volume by itself, without any input from me. It happens roughly twice a month, and it’s completely unpredictable. One day everything works fine, and the next day my phone just stops ringing — when I check the settings, the ringtone volume slider is set to minimum.

I first noticed this problem on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and now it’s happening again on my iPhone 17, so it’s clearly not device-specific.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  1. Turned off “Change with Buttons” under Sounds & Haptics
  2. Turned off “Attention Aware Features”
  3. Checked that no Focus mode or Do Not Disturb is active
  4. Disabled Bluetooth to rule out volume syncing with external devices
  5. Updated to the latest iOS version

None of this has helped. The ringtone volume still sometimes lowers itself without warning.

This is a really unreliable and frustrating bug, because I can’t tell when my phone will stop ringing — and I’ve already missed important calls because of it.

Has anyone found a definitive fix or workaround for this issue?

iPhone 17, iOS 26
