Can't reinstall Ichat

iChat was running fine up until the latest Tiger update, then I started getting the "did not respond" error. I uninstalled iChat and reinstalled from the Tiger disk (both directly and using Pacifist). When I try and open iChat I can only get so far into the setup and then it stops responding. I have run Cocktail to try and get rid of any issues with no luck. Should I do a complete reinstall of Tiger?

iMac g5, Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Welcome to the Apple Discussion Pages

Did you run the relevant Combo Installer to match your OS afterwards ?

Did you Reapir Permissions afterwards ?

Have you run the Cron scripts with Cocktail ?

Does the name for you in the Address Book match the one you are entering in the iChat Set up Pages ?

Thank you Ralph. The combo installer worked. Ichat is now reinstalled, but now I'm back to the "didn't respond" problem. My speed is fine, I have the firewall off and the universal plug-and-play enabled. The latest update seems to have thrown me a curve.

Hi jhenny,

In System Preferences > Uicktime there is a Streaming tab.
In there you will find a Connection speed srop down.

This should be set to your Download speed and Not Automatic.
Some people are reporting problems with the very top setting or Intranet/LAN as well.
