Dock tiles missing on MacBook Pro running macOS Tahoe

For a couple of days, the tiles on the dock of my macbook pro have mostly disappeared. Yesterday they came back but so far today, they have not. Restarting does not seem to help. I am on the Tahoe OS.

1) Start up in Safe Mode followed by a normal Restart.

see > Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

2) If you are still on macOS 26.0...? Update to macOS 26.0.1

You can try Relaunching the Finder on the fly

>Force Quit>Finder>Relaunch and compare your results...

or From the Terminal.app you can try...copy & paste

killall Dock
