How likely is it that apple will refund multiple in app payments??

My little sister currently lives with me and loves to play on my phone, she’s 7. I put her Face ID on my phone because she would always ask me to unlock my phone whilst I was washing dishes so she could play. So I just found it easier to put her Face ID on so she can play games as and when. Anyways I know this is my own fault but she ended up apple paying 18 in app transactions adding up to about £180 on a game and I’m panicking. I requested a refund but because the amount is so large I’m thinking they won’t refund it. Does anyone know??

It is true we have no idea what Apple will decide, and it does not help to shame you for a mistake you have already acknowledged, but we can help with preventing that from happening again. You have many options for restricting what you sister can do while using your phone:

  • Require a Password for Purchases

Require a password for purchases in the App Store and other Apple services - Apple Support

  • Prevent any in-app purchases

Use Screen Time to turn off in-app purchases on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

  • Use Parental Controls on your device to also limit what can be done by setting a Passcode to prevent any changes. This includes removing the App Store from your screen entirely to prevent purchasing other apps.

Use parental controls to manage your child's iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

  • Use Guided Access to lock your phone to a single app, so there will be no other access to any of your other information such as Picture, Emails, or Messages.

I’m going through something similar. My granddaughter plays on my phone. We went out to a wedding the weekend she held onto my telephone. I will get it back from her periodically. She plays Candy crush. She’s only five and she loves it and when she runs out of anything. She just hits the button and continues to buy things Lo and behold she bought over $230 worth of candy crush. Taken the app off of my phone several times because of this issue. I added it back because I had her with me this weekend at that wedding. I wasn’t paying much attention. She still knows how to sign in to my account so when it pops up, she signs in and starts buying stuff thinking that Nana doesn’t care she thinks it’s free. I’ve contacted Apple. They denied my claims. I put in another claim. They may deny this one. I will contact the credit card company if they don’t give me credit cause I don’t feel like I should have to pay for this. They know that I didn’t purchase those Games and it was a child who done this if they give me my money back this time candy crush will never go back on my phone again. good luck with your issues.

We can't speak for Apple as this is a user to user only forum. But Apple says "All Purchases are Final." So you would be beyond lucky if Apple agreed to refund you. This is really your fault and you know it's your fault. Never give someone else, especially a child the ability to make purchases on your iPhone.

Apple did not respond to my refund request nor stop subscription.

I have never seen where Apple did not respond at all when using the refund process here. Even if the deny the request, you should have received an email stating that.

Subscriptions that are managed by Apple are cancelled here:

View or cancel app subscriptions on iPhone - Apple Support

If you do not see the transaction in your Purchase History or ability to cancel the subscription using that link, then the charge has nothing to do with Apple and you would need to contact the merchant where the charge originated. There are all kinds of purchases/subscriptions you can make on your phone that have nothing to do with Apple. For example, you can order products on Amazon, subscribe to their Prime subscription service or any of the thousands of other subscription services available on the internet, and none of those have anything to do with Apple for requesting a refund or stopping a subscription.
