Not able to install required apps iphone6

I am a iPhone 6 user, I want to install Microsoft authentication app but the prompt says requires IOS 16 or later…and when I check for software Updates it shows 15.8.5 up to date…

How such a big company like apple don’t provide support to its old users????

iPhone 7, iOS 15

The iPhone 6 is too old, and its hardware too limited for more recent iOS versions. iPhone 6 was sold from 2014 to 2016, and is no longer supported by current iOS versions. It also has latent security issues.

As for that Authenticator app, Microsoft decided to support the three most recent versions of iOS with their apps, which means they support iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone SE 2nd, and later.

As for one potential alternative if not some other third-party app, Apple added a built-in authenticator support at iOS 15:

That integrated two-factor authentication support was simplified with iOS 18 and Passwords app.

If your phone is running iOS 15.*, it is an iPhone 6s – not an iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 cannot update past iOS 12.*.

Apple did support old iPhone users.

  • Apple released the iPhone 6 in September 2014, over eleven years ago. The iPhone 6 originally shipped with iOS 8, and got four major iOS updates – but iOS 12 is the end of the line.
  • Apple released the iPhone 6s in September 2015, over ten years ago. (A 32 GB version came out one year later.). The iPhone 6s originally shipped with iOS 9, and got six major iOS updates (one more than the typical five) – but iOS 15 is the end of the line.
