Wondering if you are seeing an error message that explains what the difficulty is.


Check you are signed into your iPhone with your correct Apple Account details:

Sign in to your Apple Account on the web or in your device settings - Apple Support


Check what payment methods Apple can accept in your country or region

Payment methods that you can use with your Apple Account - Apple Support


See how to add a payment method: Add a payment method to your Apple Account - Apple Support


Scroll down in the above linked article to see what to do: "If you can’t add a payment method"


If you are trying to remove an old card in order to add the new card ... for an account with active subscriptions:

you would need to add the new card first, before you can remove the old card.
