Static Black square showing over notifications in iOS 26

press on the battery, 5g or signal strength icon in the top right of screen and A black square with the icon shows up in the center of the screen but then does not go away and persists when I pull down notifications and on the standby screen.

If you have Larger Accessibility Sizes enabled and the size greater than halfway, if you hold on any element it will enlarge but if you let go it should go away. Try a Forced Restart if it stuck or not performing as expected.

  • Press and quickly release the Volume Up Button
  • Press and quickly release the Volume Down Button
  • Press and hold the Side Button until you see the Apple Logo (If performed correctly, you should only see the Power Off Slider, not the Emergency SOS/Medical ID slider. But don't use that slider, keep on holding until the screen goes black and the Apple Logo appears, which can take up to 30 seconds)
