Iphone Contact Sync Issues

I had an older MacBook pro and iPhone 12 that for whatever reason I couldn't get contacts that I inputted on my iPhone to sync with my MacBook pro. I recently got a newer MacBook air M2 and an iPhone 17 pro, I thought the sync issue would be a moot point, but I'm still having issues. I have checked that both devices are on my one iCloud account (I don't have another), both have contacts synced chosen, and they are running the latest OS. I tried to sync my iPhone and MacBook with a usb-c cable, that still didn't get the contacts on both devices.

Anyone have any idea what I might be missing?

I also can't seem to delete contact lists that I don't know how they were made.

Start by checking if your contacts are in your iCloud account.

From your MacBook, go to icloud.com, sign in, and look in Contacts. If you can see your contacts, then there is a sync error.

Try this. On your iPhone, go to:

Settings > Apple Account (Your Name) > iCloud.

Find your Contacts in the list, and disable it. Then, turn off your iPhone. Wait a moment. Turn it back on, connect to WiFi if you are not already. Go back to the iCloud menu, and enable Contacts.

Do the same on your MacBook. Disable Contacts in iCloud, restart, enable again.
