Requesting refund for unauthorized TikTok purchases made by a minor

I am writing to request a refund for several transactions made on my TikTok account using my bank card. The purchases were made by my younger brother, who is only 15 years old, without my knowledge or consent.

As a minor, he does not have the legal capacity to authorize any payments, and therefore these transactions should be considered unauthorized. When I initially submitted a refund request, it was unfortunately declined. I would like to respectfully appeal this decision, as the purchases were made by a child using my financial information without permission.

I kindly ask that you review my case and refund the full amount charged. Please let me know if you need any additional information, such as transaction receipts, dates, or account details, to verify my claim.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

You are not speaking to Apple here, we are users just like you. If you want to talk to Apple, you can use this link for contact:

You are responsible for protecting your device with the Passcode. You can let anyone you want use your device and that includes for making purchases, but you are responsible for those actions. Apple does provide many methods to prevent purchases on your device, such as Requiring a Password for purchases instead the of Passcode, or using Screen Time controls, but those must be used by you.

When requesting a refund, you usually get one appeal and after that the decision is final. When you give out your personal information there is no way for Apple to verify if the purchase was made by you or the person you gave your Passcode/Password to. If that was all that was needed to grant a refund, then everyone would just say they did not make the purchase, it was from someone else that was given the Passcode. That is what is needed to authorize any purchase and you are in control of that information.

Again, ultimately you are responsible for what others do with equipment. It would be no different if a child got hold of your car keys and crashed your car or got hold of matches and burned down your house.

Also realize that in this era of fraud and scams you can be pretty sure vendors have heard every story. Apple has no way to take back what has been downloaded onto a device so it would not surprise me if they were cautious when regarding refunds.

Apple only shares a very small amount of information about criteria used in requesting refunds. According to https://reportaproblem.apple.com/static/en-us/privacy.html , Apple uses an automated system to detect fraud. Your request may not have met the automated system’s criteria for a refund. If you feel you want to discuss a refund request with a person, try to contact an Apple representative by email —> “If you disagree with your final decision, contact dpo@apple.com “

i have this exact same issue. my son has downs syndrome and somehow has got hold of his younger sisters tiktok and made LOTS of tiktok purchases and promotions and lives without my knowledge. HIS account is setup to ask permission but he has somehow logged on as her. I am talking £100s and £100s of transactions from my savings account that i rarely check. everytime i dispute them a bot just says not eligble for a refund. I am utterly DISGUSTED with this and the lack of human empathy or intelligence involved. I am very stressed about it. I have spoken to a customer service person who couldnt help. My last resort will be going into an apple store but i am just so gobsmacked that this is allowed to happen. Have you had any luck?
