iPhone SE fails to automatically update time zone

My iPhoneSE switched to the central daylight time yesterday morning. Sometime later that day it reverted back to saving time and now refuses to automatically update its timezone. In Settings>General>Date & Time, if "Set Automatically" is turned on, the "Time Zone" field just has the spinning-wheel-of-wait.

I am connected to my cellular network, and to WiFi. Location Services is turned on. I tried airplane mode for a minute and rebooting. It still spinning.

Any suggestions?

Try a Force Restart on the iPhone. Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

The information for changing to Standard time is from your cellular provider's network towers, just like your time is when it is is set to Automatic. It could be a problem with your provider or the particular tower you are connected to, especially if the Force Restart does not fix the issue. You can contact your provider if you have additional questions.

Users often get this wrong.

Quickly press and release the Up button

Quickly press and release the Down button

Hold in the Side button for at least 20 seconds while ignoring the "slider". Just keep holding until the Apple icon appears in the center of the screen, then release the Side button
