Hi, I am still brand new in iPhone world so better to ask. I have iPhone 16 which I bought in July. I updated iOS to 26.0.1 couple of days ago and spotted battery is draining significantly faster than before the update, although the settings remained the same (checked it).
can someone explain me what is going on with battery - is that normal and if yes , how much time does it take to get back to normal battery consumption?

Take a look at this Apple Support document that was produced around the time of iOS 26 release, explains about temporary hits to battery usage while the phone works on additional tasks necessary during an update. About Apple software updates - Apple Support
Expect heavier battery usage for 3-4 days or so after any significant update.
Don't expect any update to make a significant difference regarding battery performance.
Doesn't look bad, but it would help you a lot if you charged to 100% every night, all night, with optimised charging on, and charge limit off

Thanks everyone for the responses and advices. I still learn about iPhones and battery is so weird to me. Can you give me the opinions on charging? I have limit set to 90% and I am charging it during the day, not at night. I am charging it when it comes to ~ 20%. Before the update it could resist 30-32 hours until next charge, now not that good.
I am avoiding to charge at night with optimized battery charging option, because I am not waking up at the same time every morning so not sure how good optimized charging will work?

Update happened on 31st of October. It jumped from 50-60% (55% was average) per day to ~70% with less or same screen time than these days.
