Once you download iOS 26, you cannot go back, as downgrading any iOS version has never been supported. If Automatic Updates is turned on in Settings, then it may have updated on its own, otherwise you can shut off Automatic Updates.

The is it worth it question is a personal choice. Simply reviewing every previous major iOS versions, such as iOS 18, 17, 16, 15, etc, there have always been people who said they did not like it. If you ever want to take advantage of new features in the software, then you are going to have to update. For me, I like it, but that is my personal choice.

There are a lot of new features included with iOS 26. Whether your sister should download it, is up to her, assuming she has an eligible device. If your tag line is correct that you have an iPhone 7 Plus, you don't have an eligible device. I've been using iOS 26 since it was released and I really like it. But that's me. There are others who are change adverse.
