26.0.1 Messages freeze when inserting photos

"26.0.1 Messages freeze when inserting photos: Updated to 26.0.1: Whenever I try to insert photos into a text message, the phot gallery doesn’t come up (it stays stuck behind the text box). Ultimately Messages freezes entirely. I’m on an iPhone 13"

Update the iPhone:

iOS 26.1 Is now available. So, try updating it to that, seeing if that fixes this. Important: Be certain to create a backup of your iPhone prior to bring it in. That way, you can have something to restore your iPhone from, should anything go wrong during or after the update install.

Do your part: Let Apple know what is going on here. Provide them with feedback on this. They may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they received on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed in updates to come.
