How can I locate my lost phone with the location sharing?

The phone was lost since Sat 25-Oct-25 and the location moved on 04-Nov-25.

I believe the phone is off and no battery.

Will the location sharing still be updated? How? Even if the phone is exposed to rain or shine?

The thief was smart and turned the phone off, which also prevented it from activating lost mode. After a couple of hours, he turned it on and it updated the location and activated lost mode. Lost iPhone 7 Plus with location services off I can't find my iphone 7 plus, it either dies or was powered off and my location services were off, I enabled lost device so when ever it is powered on the location services will activate. Any suggestions on how I can find my device, any help will be greatly appreciated!! [Re-Titled by Moderator]

How Does the "Find My iPhone" Mechanism Change When "Lost Mode" Is Activated? My phone was stolen, and initially, I was able to track it using the "Find My" app on my Mac. However, the connection was lost, and the location was unavailable for about an hour. Later, when I activated the "Lost Mode" function, I was able to see the location of my phone again. Could this be a coincidence? For example, is the tracking before marking the phone as lost reliant on a regular internet connection, while activating "Lost Mode" uses a different method for tracking? Would it be a plausible explanation that the gap in tracking occurred because the person turned on Flight Mode? In this case, could it be that "regular location tracking" is not possible during Flight Mode, but marking the phone as lost enables tracking through a different mechanism?

of cause apart from looking manually retracing steps and the likes

then all sort of functionality of the device requires it to have battery and be connected to the internet and to provide a location it also requires to be gps cover in the place it's located.
