Is iTunes Match still necessary with Apple Music subscription?

Hi,

If I’m subscribed to Apple Music, is iTunes Match still necessary? I’ve received conflicting answers from other non-Apple forums but most contend if I cancel iTunes Match, I will not lose any of my music, even files I uploaded that aren’t available/streaming on Apple Music. Can anyone confirm whether this is indeed the case?

Thanks!

Apple Music includes the matching component of iTunes Match and no longer adds DRM to matched/uploaded tracks that are downloaded to a second computer, which it did the early years. In principle you can cancel your iTunes Match subscription if you have an Apple Music subscription with no risk, but I agree with ed, backup your library.
