Lost sound on reels or content shared by others on Instagram since November 5th IOS Update

IP 13 ProMax running latest IOS26.1

Since update on Nov 5th lost audio on instagram app. Audio/sound is working on the rest of my phone so not a speaker/audio issue, all other things are working.

Tried mute/unmute sound button, reinstalling instagram app <also updated to current version> and settings on both phone settings and instagram, nothing so far is fixing.

Please help, has to be a bug in the IOS update somewhere....have logged also with Instagram.

Only thing I haven't done is to login on desktop to check, but I try to keep my PW and accounts separated in some way.

I've had this problem twice now - once after an ios update in November 2025, and just now after the most recent ios update. No audio issues with any other app, obviously my phone is not on silent (why is asking that even helpful?).


So I did everything, and it worked: (1) log out of Instagram, (2) delete the app, (3) disconnect Bluetooth (maybe not necessary?), and then (4) restarted my phone.


Insane that two mega-corporations can gather data from everyone on the planet but can't figure this out.

App Bug After an Update:


A. Restart your iPhone:

Go here: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support


B. Update the App:

See if you can update the app.


C. Add the App Back:

Are you using the instagram app here? Remove and then redownload the app. IMPORTANT: Sign out, before removing the app.


D. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of your issue, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Call it “insane”, but that’s likely because little, if any, feedback is reported in this issue.


So, Report this Bug and Fix to Instagram Apple:


A. Reporting the Big and Fix Instagram:

email: Send an email to support@instagram.com. Provide a screenshot of the app, if applicable. And provide the URL of this thread(for their own reference).


B. Reporting this Bug and Fix to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of your issue, if you don't report it to them.

I have tried restarting the phone, uninstalling the app and all. Nothing worked. I just wanted to upload a post and just went ahead with it today. While posting I selected a song and played it. The audio started working somehow. Now it works.

Troubleshooting Instagram:

Contact Instagram, and see if they have a fix, and are aware of this issue. It’s been a bit since the OP authored their post. It don’t use Instagram, but if it’s on their app, is this app on your other devices? If so, retrieve it from there.
