Can I upgrade to Sonoma on a Macbook M1 Pro Max?

Hello,

due to many different softwares that now require new MacOS, but are still not ready for the most recent ones (such as Tahoe), I need to upgrade from Ventura to either Sonoma or Sequoia.

Is that possible? How do Macbook M1 Pro Max generally handle these two operating systems?

I am running Sequoia v15.7.2 on my 2021 M1 MacBook Pro (32G/1TB) without any issues. I recommend that you ignore Sonoma and upgrade to Sequoia after a current Time Machine backup. Before you upgrade, confirm with third-party vendors' sites that their software is compatible with Sequoia. Depending on what operating system you are presently using and the age of your third-party applications, this may require paid or unpaid updates to achieve compatibility.
