iOS 26/26.1 hey Siri failure

I have an iPhone 16 Plus on 26.1 and ever since I was forced to go to iOS 26 for security reasons Siri/HeySiri works once if I am lucky. It Worked seamelessly every where before and now never. It's a fail! I have disabled, re-enabled, retrained it, turned off apps that are learning from it (BTW VERY stupid to auto populate ALL apps to learn from ) should be able to turn that mess off in one toggle- I have hundreds- I have done everything EVERY forum and Apple has said to do short of reinstalling everything. I even did a hard rest of the phone... it is ridiculous. NOTHING WORKS. And when you live in a state where the fine for not using hands free is 150$ for the first offense- it is offensive to me that something that worked perfectly on iOS 18 not fails to do anything more than make the edge of the screen pretty occasionally! FIX THIS!. Not to mention the battery drain... Updates completed Early Nov per my employer (or I would not have but DUO required it)

Have you also tried activating "Always Listen for Siri"?

If your iPhone's screen is covered, in a pocket, bag or similar, Siri will not normally listen. With this function active, Siri is always ready. Maybe this can make a difference.

You can activate the function here:

Settings > Accessibility > Siri > activate Always Listen for Siri
