iPhone 16 screen stuck in zoomed-in mode after upgrade to 26.1 and I cannot get to settings

One of the first things I did after upgrading to 26.1 was zoom in on some text that was too small for my eyesight. Then the phone seems to freeze in its position, and I am unable to enter my device PIN.

Means I can only see the notifications, etc, swiping right to left. However, I am unable to zoom out.

Update: On the keypad screen, I can push around if I use a three-finger touch in an area that doesn't have graphics

Still, most of my apps are unusable. very strange.
