proper settings to enable MMS with travel sim

make sure MMS is enabled in message settings, if it is then contact the Japan esim carrier, MMS is a phone carrier feature.

Either your carrier in Japan supports MMS, or they don't.

The fact that you don't see this option in your settings tells me that either the carrier does not offer MMS with their service.....or.....if they do, it is an additional service, very likely with an additional fee.
