Deselecting a file from a list of highlighted/selected files, finder jumps to the bottom of selected instead of staying in place

When deselecting a file from a list of highlighted files, finder jumps to the bottom of the selected instead of staying in place. I'm finding this same issue in Apple community but from 2021-2022 with no more resent coming up. Any solutions suggested do not work. I only have icloud drive connected and no other drives. It was doing it on my out dated laptop so thought that it being outdated was the issue but I got a new Studio Pro this year 15.6.1 (24G90) and it is still happening. Apple must have a solution, this is extremely disruptive when needing to select a lot of files.
