Using Camera App for Scanning Documents — Save Destination?

When you open the Camera app on the iPad and point it at a document, it’ll show you a prompt to scan document within the Camera app (without having first opened Notes or Photos). Once you scan the document, where does it save to by default? I know people have said scans will save as PDFs in Notes but that’s only if you first used the scan document feature in Notes itself. I checked Files and Notes (just in case) and neither had the files. Does it not save to a destination automatically?
