iPhone just keeps saying it's disconnected

I'm trying to back up my iphone via USB using a lightning cable. It keeps telling me the phone has disconnected, despite the phone showing up on the desktop the entire time and clearly NOT disconnecting. Then, other times I click "Back Up Now", it says there is not enough space, despite there being at least 100GB more space on the Mac Mini than on the iPhone.

What is going on?

I would say make sure you’re using an official Apple cord. I would also try to restart both of your Mac and your phone. I would also make sure that your Mac and your iPhone are both up-to-date on iOS updates. Make sure there’s nothing else plugged into your computer, except your keyboard and mouse (chargers are fine). If you use a lot of iCloud storage, try to free up some space. I’m not an expert, but I hope this helps. Good luck! 👍
