iPhone SE prompts incorrect Apple ID for WhatsApp update

Whats App

update Issue

When I now

try to access Whats App on my iphone SE either via the app or the App Store, I

get a message saying that” this version of Whatsapp has expired, please go to

the App Store and update it “

“Your update

will be free of charge”

Below there

is an invitation to Update Whatsapp.

When I click

on this I see this message

“Your Apple

Account

(………@btopenworld.com)

or password

is incorrect, please try again”

This email

address is one that my wife uses on her iphone and that account is also accessible

on my phone as a 2nd email account.

My email

address is   ……..@btinternet.com and as

far as I know has always been the only address associated with the Apple

Account.

I have

recently changed my Apple Account pass word in an effort to sort this out which

was confirmed with an email to me (@ btinternet.com)asking if I had made the

change.

I want  my own email address in my Apple Account and

in an effort to solve this issue named it the  Primary account.

I know my

Apple Account pass word but not one that may be associated with with

btopenworld.

I have tried

to sort this problem by going on line but the options and answers  are a bit daunting when I see that the wrong

decision could stop access for 30 days or loose data etc.

The bottom

line is I want my email address ( named as Primary or not ) and password to be

what is used for my Apple Account

Thank you.

WhatsApp was downloaded to your device using your wife's Apple Account. Check at Settings > [name on top] > Media & Purchases, and make sure your wife's email address is not showing there. That is the email address that will be linked to any downloaded apps.

If your Wife's Apple Account was ever signed into your phone and WhatsApp was downloaded then the app will always be linked to that email address for updating.

The solution is to delete WhatsApp and download it again after making sure you have the correct address shown at Media & Purchases.
