How do I find and remove hidden files causing iCloud storage issues?

Hey

I’m having an issue with my iCloud storage. It shows that iCloud Drive is using around 27GB, but when I check from my iPhone and on iCloud.com, I can’t find any files that would take up that much space.

I already disabled backups, checked “Recently Deleted”, and looked into each app’s storage use, but nothing seems to explain the used space. I have only 1 GB in iCloud.

Could you please help me locate and remove any hidden files or clarify what’s taking up this storage?

Thank you!

iCloud Storage Inconsistencies:

A. Apps Vs. iCloud Drive:

Not everything is stored in iCloud Drive. Mail can take up lots of space. So, if that is being used through iCloud, then lots can be consumed. See here:

B. Verify the Apple Account is Correct:

Look in Settings > Name > View the email blow you name. If it is not the same, then you are not logging into the same Apple Account.

C. New iCloud Sessions:

Log out of your Apple Account on all devices associated to your Apple Account. Then, sign back in, one-at-a-time. Perhaps it all needs to resync?

D. Get a Copy of iCloud Contents:

See what happens when to attempt a download.

A. Download All of iCloud Drive:

You can download all of iCloud, and then search through the iCloud download using a the Search Bar on the top-right corner of a new Finder window. Use my User Tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip

B. Download the Rest of iCloud:

That’s what you’re saying after you hook your phone up to A Mac then login because every time you do a backup by default it saves every single thing on your phone every single time so you can go back to 18.5 for example but you have to be logged into your account with your phone hooked up to a computer logging into your account on the computer I believe… Correct me if I’m wrong anyone

My iCloud storage is 1GB: but on iPhone storage it’s 27GB: i went to iCloud settings and I don’t have any backup or apps on it, so why does ICloud Drive is taking 27GB from my phone?? I need the space

iCloud storage is its own storage. The one way it can take up space is if you’ve downloaded items from iCloud Drive. Without being downloaded, they’ll have no affect in your iPhone’s storage.

Backups do not retain the iOS version, you cannot go back using a backup.
