UTM VMs on Mac: No internet access in any network mode

UTM VM no internet access

My Mac running on Tahoe 26.1 with M4 Pro chip

UTM version is 4.7.4 (115)

My mac is managed by Apple Business Essential,

I am the ABE Owner, pushed UTM from ABE.

However, macOS/Windows VM both have no internet connection, no matter I use Shared/Bridge mode.

When using Shared mode, the VM has a 192.168.x.x IP address, checked in the VM Network, it shows connected.

however, can't access any web sites. Ping to 8.8.8.8 got timeout.

When using Bridge mode with DHCP, the VM has a self assigned IP address, no internet connection too.

When using Bridge mode, with a static IP that I have it reserved in the Router, ping 8.8.8.8 were successful. however, access websites are very slow, if not timed out.

I checked in the Host Privacy & Security -> Local Network, there is no UTM listed there, and I have no way to add.

I tried to build a Custom Profile in ABE to allow network sharing with UTM, working with ChatGPT for days, and got the answer of ABE can't do it.

Any other thing that I can try?

Thanks,

MacBook Pro (M4 Pro, 2024)

You might consider checking with the UTM development team as to whether it is supported in your ABE configuration. If not, you might test the free VMware Fusion 25H2 VM provided it supports your intended guests.

Although I do have UTM 4.7.4 installed on my M4 Mac Mini Pro (26.2), it has no guests presently configured as I am using Parallels Desktop Pro 26.2 for Windows, Linux, and n-tuple older post-Big Sur macOS guests.

I do have UTM 4.7.4 installed on my 2020 Core i7 iMac (Sequoia 15.7.3) and it has a virtualized OpenIndiana (Solaris 11) 2025.10 guest which uses an emulated VLAN (e1000) to make network connections for package updates to that UNIX guest. You might try that network configuration choice on Tahoe for your UTM guests.

It cannot hurt to update to Tahoe 26.2 either.
