iPhone 15 Pro CarPlay volume lowers

I just upgraded to a 2024 BMW X5 and when using car play and I park the car, my volume on my phone goes way down to almost zero. I googled fixes like sound check and change with buttons and the attention aware buttons. Turned off everything it came up with but my volume still gets turned way down. I went into the car settings in bluetooth and set car play to Car stereo. There was no setting before but nothing has changed the volume setting to where it was before. I have a iphone 15 pro. Running 18.7.2. Which I did the update today. Nov 20/25.

I have asked the dealership and no one seems to be able to help me with my phone volume after using car play.

Google says it is a common problem after IOS 17. And listed the above fixes. Which I did.

Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated!!

If CarPlay doesn't detect your iPhone, make sure CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions are turned on, tap Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, and then tap Forget This Car.

If you're still having trouble with your car's audio system using CarPlay or Bluetooth, try the Aux cable. To get it fixed, there are two options:

  1. Take your car to a reputable car dealer or car audio specialist. They have experienced technicians who can diagnose the problem with the Aux cable. This could be a loose connection, a faulty cable itself, or an issue with the system's Aux port. They'll be able to repair the issue or recommend a replacement cable if needed.
  2. Consult your car's infotainment system manuals. These manuals often include troubleshooting sections that might address common Aux cable problems. You might find instructions for resetting the system, cleaning the Aux port, or confirming the cable's compatibility.

Before taking your car to a dealer, it's always a good idea to check the manuals first. This can sometimes save you time and money if it's a simple fix you can handle yourself. However, if the manuals don't offer a solution, or you're uncomfortable tinkering with the system, then a car audio specialist is the way to go.

The problem is not the car. Car play works fine . It is after leaving the car my volume on my phone is turned right down. That is the issue. I googled it and have changed many settings that could cause the issue. For the most part it is corrected now. It only happens once in awhile now.

I have not upgraded to ios 26 as yet as I just got ios 18.7.2 the other day but now 26.1 says it is available but from what I am reading 18.7.2 is way more stable than 26.1. at this time.

I know that an ios upgrade could fix the issue.
