My MAC is 15.6.1 (24G90). My IPhone Pro Max 16 is 18.6.2.
My IMessages between the two devices are NOT automatically synching. I have to manually synch on each device.
I Cloud and Apple are signed into the same PW. I have tried restarting each device, but have had no luck.
Is this an Apple programming glitch or is there anything else I can try.

Have you followed all the instructions here:
Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support
Pay careful attention to the first paragraph where is says you need to have two-factor authentication enabled.
My first suggestion is to make sure your devices are up to date. If you don't want to update to macOS 26 and iOS 26, at least make sure you're on the latest versions of the OS you're using. For Sequoia, that's 15.7.2. For iOS 18, it is, I believe, 18.6.2.

Text Message forwarding is related but different. What text message forwarding does is send any SMS/RCS messages to your computer which would otherwise not be able to receive them. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to fix that while you're at it.

I just noticed that Text Forwarding shows James' MacBook Pro (Mac). I now have a MacBook Air. Bought it several months ago.
Could the be the problem? I cannot figure out how to change it.

After updating to Tahoe 26.2 and doing all the recommended actions I still have to manually synch my MacBook Air and IPhone16 a few times a day.
ICloud is only doing it about once a day and usually during the night.
I have tried other suggestions with no luck.
