Scanned Documents in Notes unable to email share.

I have an iPhone 16 max and was used to scanning and emailing attachment using Notes with all my previous Apple phones.

Since upgrading to the 16 my scanned documents won’t send in email. It says to large, even after saving the scanned images in Files and compressing the file.

I’m on Wifi when trying to do this.

Your iPhone 16 is generating large scan files that the Mail app refuses to send. The fastest fixes are:

  • Use “Reduce File Size” when scanning
  • Use the Print → pinch-out → Share method to create a smaller PDF
  • Send the document as a ZIP file
  • Update iOS or send from another mail app

These steps handle nearly all “File Too Large” errors with scanned Notes documents.

Your iPhone 16’s Notes scans are likely too large because of higher default resolution or Mail attachment limits. Fixes include: reducing scan size, exporting and compressing via Files, using the Print-to-PDF workaround, sending from another email app, or updating iOS. Most users solve the issue by reducing the scan size before saving or using the Print → pinch-out PDF trick.
