HP Officejet 7000 E809a printer driver for MacOS Sequoia needed...

HP doesn't support the HP OfficeJet 7000 E809a wide format printer anymore and don't provide ANY drivers for that printer. I did go to 123HP.com and downloaded HP APP, but no help. I know it's old, but it still works just fine. I have the HP OfficeJet 7740, but the 7000 prints bigger formats than the 7740. Connected to a Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.1 the Mac only sees the 7000 as a Generic PCL Laser Printer and only prints in B&W. Sure seems like HP ought to have an archive of older printer drivers. Speaking of... would a driver for Monterey load into Sequoia and work on that printer? I have a 27" iMac that I was using that printer on. Hate to see it become a big 'paper weight'. Any help would be appreciated. Seems HP is a dead end. Thanks...

I have used older printer drivers on newer software before but not recently. I found Brother no longer had software for my printer but it told me to use Airprint. Have you tried Airprint? About AirPrint - Apple Support

HP apparently fully removed the tech specs and docs. Entirely.

According to what is posted elsewhere, it apparently went end-of-life on 30 Dec 2012.

No IPP and no AirPrint, so no common drivers, either.

You’re left to set up some computer as a print server, if you can still find old drivers for it.

I don’t know.

Rosetta 2 cannot translate and run Intel-only system code such as kernel extensions. So is this driver for Monterey / Apple Silicon or for Monterey / Intel?

iMac is Intel. Don't know when HP stopped supporting the OfficeJet 7000, but was thinking if relatively recent... there might be a driver written for a new MacOS... Apple M1 or whatever. Thought I would try Apple Community and then contact HP. They make contact difficult.

Print server sounds like an option. I can still print to the 7000 from the 27" iMac. I'll have to research how to set that up. Everything is connected to my in house Wifi ... so I'll work on that.

Thanks for your info. I know... 2012 is bit old, but as you know... Apple stuff just keeps working... like the Energizer Bunny!

Well, if you decide to replace, you absolutely want AirPrint, and probably also want IPP/IPPS.
