I’ve had my phone for 3 months and got it with 97% battery capacity, it’s now at 92. I’m charging wisely, have it between 20-80% most of the time, I don’t let it overheat but it feels like it’s going down very fast. I fear, I will need to change the battery in a few months with that pace. I’ve seen people here that say that after 12 months, they still have 97%.What is happening?
No two phones will exhibit the same battery health after a certain period of time, because no two phones are used in the exactly the same way. To have purchased an iPhone which came with a battery health of 97%, you must have purchased a used iPhone from someone?
The better measure to understand your battery health is Charge Cycle. Open Settings > Battery > Battery Healht - how many Charge Cycles does it show. For an iPhone 14, for about every 25 charge cycles, you may see about a 1% drop in battery health.
Battery Health decline is NOT linear, meaning it can remain steady for a while, then drop a few points faster. That in itself is not cause for concern.
You also suggest you're using the Charge Limit in hopes it will demonstrably improve battery health. Most of us believe the charge limit is more hype than not. A respected engineer actually did a test to see if it helped in any way over a full year, compared to the same model phone, both used exactly the same in the same location for a year. It didn't do anything to preserve the battery. If anything, you'll typically charge your phone more often using a charge limit. Most of us who have been on this forum for years, plug our phones in to charge when we go to bed at night and use Optimized Battery Charging, where the phone will charge to 100% by the time you wake up and if connected to Wifi, backup nightly as well.
