Problem with Apple CarPlay WiFi

I have been using Apple CarPlay for a while now with no problems. But recently, my phone wants to use the car WiFi as internet and won’t continue playing Spotify or GPS or let me use any sort of internet with my phone while connected as it’s not an actual WiFi connection. Before I never had an issue while connected to CarPlay. Is this an issue with the newer IOS Updates? My phone is up to date on all updates.

Two possibilities: If this is a new car, it actually has a 5G internet connection for the Wi-Fi. It’s free the first year, but you then have to subscribe.

Another possibility: Did you recently update iOS, and do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN, then restart your device. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN, but probably shouldn’t. Updates sometimes need to have VPN to be removed and reinstalled.

You can open the Control Center and tap on the Wi-Fi button to disconnect from Wi-Fi for a period of time.

You can also go to Settings/Wi-Fi, tap on the network and forget it.
