Hello all,
Can someone please advise how to edit a screenshot now that the Preview App fails with a "Preview App Failed" message along with technical diagnostic (where's the error handling and user friendly message). I recently allowed the update to Tahoe 26.1. I'm now in a position where I need to edit a screenshot that I cannot open. Steve Jobs would not be impressed.

Thank you all, I took 2 actions (1) rebooted my Mac, and (2) instead of clicking on the Failure Dialog "Reopen" button, I clicked on the "Continue" button. Like user error, in my defense the error description was very technical and not helpful in working around/resolving the issue. Once again, thanks to all that responded so quickly, greatly appreciated.

Shut down and restart your Mac and compare your results.

Just one specific screenshot, or all of them? I have no issues opening and marking up screenshot PNG files on 26.1.

Does that mean you resolved the issue...?
FWIW, it's something wrong with your Mac. I and of course many others edit .png files with Preview without any problem. I'll let someone else try and help you.
