Apple Watch series 11 with iPhone 17 pro. Problems with notifications for Messages and Calendar.

I have just set up my new Apple Watch series 11 with new iPhone 17 pro. I have two problems, first problem is that I am not getting all notifications of Messages, the ones I do get there is no sound or haptics. I have all of these set up in each of the settings. First Apple Watch I have owned, but had iPhones for many years.

Second problem is that along with all current Calendar notifications I am getting old notification from Calendars from years ago. Just a couple each day but I would like to stop them. I only have one Calendar that I use that is checked on the tick list, all other Calendars are unchecked.

I have restarted both the watch and the phone, I have repaired both. Any other suggestions please?

To rule out a software issue inside your backup data, erase the watch and pair it again, setting it up as a new device. You will only lose your created Watch faces and may have to activate the cards in your Wallet app again.

Then test the Calendar and Messages notifications again.

In case it still does not work, let Apple Techs know by using the Feedback link, both devices just came out, and there might still be some software fixes needed.

I have managed to sort out the calendar problem. I went into my calendar settings on my phone and found there was a list of calendar items, all unchecked but with (Null) in the name.

I deleted these and now I no longer get old calendar notifications. I am so pleased about that.

The messages notifications are still not properly ironed out. But I will keep on trying.

Thank you for all of your help so far.

@LD150 Yeah, I was hoping that wasn't the case.
Ideally I want all notifications going to my iPhone with message tone every time, and at the same time a little haptic buzz on my wrist as well.

Perhaps I am hoping for too much :)

You can make them all go to the phone whether locked or in use. (but no buzz on Watch)

iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, Notifications, then for each app in turn, make them Custom notifications, then activate Notifications Off.
