There are several ways to achieve what you want, and I don't see how hanging indents is any of them :)

If I interpret your screenshot correctly, you're wanting the blocks of text in the first two columns to align right under the 'TEST' and 'Creative Suite' lines, right, but they're getting pushed down because of the additional text in the third column.

To be clear, there is NO practical way to do this in the way you have it, because (I'm guessing), the 'Myportfolio.com' line is typed in AFTER the last word in the third column ('... responsibility'). Hanging indents would never be enough to suppress the gap because, as far as Pages is concerned, they're completely different paragraphs.

There are three typical ways to address this. One, as mentioned above, is via a table. These are easy to create visually, but sometimes get messed by auto-readers after exporting to PDF.

The second is via text boxes - specific boxes of text placed on the page, but would affect the document flow.

The other (IMHO, best) way, which may be easier, is via columns.

First, structure your document as a single flow, like:

Then, select the area you want to convert to columns and check Inspector -> Layout:

Change the columns to 3:

Pages will initially create three equal columns, but you can give it a hint/direction as to where the column breaks should fall. Just position the cursor at the beginning of the 'Skills' and About' lines, in turn, and choose Insert -> Column Break. This tells Pages to start a new column at this position:

Each of the columns will scale independently, and the column space will expand to the size of the largest column.

You can use normal font/style changes within the text to format each column as you like.

From what I can determine from your sample, the hanging indent is working as it should. Without showing the ruler at the top of the page or the invisible characters, I can't be certain

You don't need to resort to text boxes. Rather than putting the text in the body of a word processing document, try a table. The content under "Creative" & "Skills" can be on separate lines within a table cell by using Option + Return to create a new line in a cell.

1. Highlight the paragraph you want to format.

2. Open the Format panel (right-side toolbar)

If it’s not visible:

View → Show Inspector OR click the paintbrush icon.

3. Go to:

Format → Layout → Indents

You’ll see these controls:

  • Left
  • First
  • Right

4. Set the indent like this:

  • Left indent: Increase this (e.g., 1 cm0.5 in, etc.)
  • First line indent: Set this to a negative value of the same amount
