Help, iPad's "other" space taking so much space!!!!!

I am writing this message because
I got my 16Gb wifi ipad about a month ago and I'm using it with great content.
However, for some reason the space in my iPad is decreasing and decreasing,
because the orange, "Other" space is increasing and increasing.

I remeber earlier on it was at zero but I dont understand why it keeps getting bigger....
Its taking up 4.54 Gbs right now... way more than any of the other categories.... and I cant think of anything that would be in the "other category"

Can anyone help me understand the situation??
Is it normal???
Is there anything I can do to get rid of the huge amount of "other"s?
I'm running out of space 😟 a problem which I wouldnt have if that other category didnt take up so much!!!!!!

Thank you for Reading...

A combination of HiroPro and Rjordan4 posts worked for me. I bought this new iPad 3 and was surprised to see "OTHERS" take up almost 4 GB (when there was practically nothing much on my iPad). I have a 32 GB WiFi model and was wondering what the other files was all about. Being a software engineer, I understand that the temp or cache is required to run apps. Hoever 4 GB was not acceptable. Since I use iPhone 4, 64 GB to store all my music etc, I did not synch a whole load of stuff on my iPad. I did however synch Photos (wanted to check the Retina display work on some of my HD picutres) and when I did an uncheck "Synch Photos from" in iTunes and Synch and re-synch after checking "Synch Photos from" in iTunes it worked for me... marginally 🙂 Now my "OTHERS" is 1.01 GB. I have decided to live with it as I have been reading all the posts and opening all other links etc and I am dead tired. I will see if the size increases over a period of time (with new apps installed, videos, TV shows etc) and do a regular maintainance job to find the real culprit. If this becomes too much, I will raise a ticket with Apple - though they are not going to be of much use. I might as well catch an Apple nerd (preferbaly a college drop out) and check with him/her for a solution. Will post back if I get something substantial.

A few more things:

- Do all the above when you have loads of time on hand

- Try to physically connect your iPod/iPhone/iPad when you do the procedure

- It's definetly related to the new apps available for iPad. My iPhone has music (crazy **** load of it), pictures, apps, podcasts et al but the "OTHERS" data is only 0.78 GB vs a clean new iPad (with a few more HD apps) showing 1.01 GB

- Please read all the posts (or as many) as everyone's problem is unique and anything that's written in this forum might work for you

When is Apple going to come up with a real solution to this problem? I tried every trick posted on this bulletin board and nothing worked when my iPhone other category went to 8 GB. I restored my phone as a new device and it went away. Now three months later for no reason at all the other category went from 1 GB to 4 GB. If I have to restore my phone every three months the Samsung Galaxy is looking better all the time.

I saw what you said about games keeping archives that fill up the other section and I think this might be what is causing my problem, but I'm not sure how to find or delete these archives. I saw where the files are located just not sure how to get there on my iPad. Also if this makes a difference my iPad is not jailbroken and I have tried restoring but the problem came back after like 2 syncs. My iPad is at 0 bytes of free space right now. Help would be appreciated.
